Medical Oncologist Opportunity

The BC Cancer Agency, Centre for the North, is the province’s newest, high-tech, full service regional oncology centre which opened its doors in 2012. Our multidisciplinary team cares for patients throughout Northern British Columbia, covering all tumour sites, both in person and by Telehealth technology. We are looking for an additional Medical Oncologist to join our team. As part of BC Cancer Agency, we benefit from a collaborative and supportive provincial tumour group environment as well as extensive opportunities for research and teaching.
In this BC Cancer Agency role you will also be appointed academically within the University of British Columbia. The UBC Northern Medical Program, based in Prince George, allows for a broad range of teaching opportunities including lectures, clinical teaching, and faculty positions. There is great potential for research including local and provincial initiatives which are facilitated by access to BC Cancer Agency databases and provincial research infrastructure. Active areas of study at this time include research related to patient reported outcomes, health services, rural medicine, and telehealth.

This offer is a salaried position with great benefits, guaranteed vacation and conference leave, generous relocation support including an ongoing Northern Health travel budget. Practicing physicians in Canada are supported by a continuum of medical liability protection services through their required membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA). Medical Oncologists trained and certified within the United States are potentially eligible for licensure in British Columbia. It is important to note that immigration can be facilitated for a work permit or expedited for the selected physician who may choose Canadian Permanent Residency status.
