The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center located in Dallas Texas seeks a dynamic physician leader for Medical Director for Cancer Programs at the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC), one of 49 National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive centers in the country. The Medical Director for Cancer Programs serves as the Chief Medical Officer and is the senior clinical leader driving strategies designed to advance preeminence in cancer patient care at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
This unique Leadership position will:
- Create and sustain a culture of patient centeredness emphasizing quality, safety and efficiency.
- Act as an advocate for and liaison to referring physicians, ensuring that the SCCC is responsive to their needs and concerns.
- Actively promote the SCCC's multidisciplinary approach to patient care as a local, regional, and national leader in innovative and collaborative models of care.
The Medical Director will have dual reporting to the Cancer Center Director and Academic Department Chair. The position will partner with the Associate Vice President for Cancer Programs in the design and implementation of novel models of care, alternative payment model programs, and equitable distribution of resources (space, personnel, funding).
The Medical Director should hold an M.D. degree with board certification in Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, or other oncology specialty, and an unrestricted state medical license. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. We are looking for an energetic and passionate leader who has a proven track record, preferably with at least five years of management experience in a progressive ambulatory practice or hospital system.
