Your Impact at TESARO:

The Principal Scientist, Discovery Pharmacology will be an integral member of the Strategic Partnerships group. This group is focused on accelerating portfolio expansion by developing and managing strong external partnerships to identify clinical candidates and enable early research objectives. The successful candidate will leverage a strong scientific background in cancer biology with a focus in immunology or immuno-oncology to identify novel biologics and small molecule clinical candidates. The individual will manage multiple research programs through a fully externalized model, overseeing pharmacology aspects of collaborations with academic drug discovery centers, partnered biotech organizations and contract research organizations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with Biologics, Small Molecule, and Pharmacology heads to design and execute pharmacology research studies that generate proof-of-concept data for novel biologic therapeutics and technology platforms.
  • Investigate novel therapy concepts for the oncology biologics and small molecule drug pipeline that enable candidate selection and definition of clinical utility.
  • Identify and apply novel technology and expertise to enhance drug discovery research programs.
  • Interpret data clearly and concisely in documents and present results in an organized manner.
  • Communicate with project team and colleagues effectively and work well with others to meet experimental and organizational goals.


  • Ph.D. degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. Research in Immuno-Oncology is required.
  • Strong scientific background in immuno-oncology drug research, with a focus on bioassay development that includes analysis of complex flow cytometry datasets from in-vivo pharmacology studies.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and analyzing pharmacology studies that result in clinical candidates and initial development strategies.
  • Proficiency working in project leadership roles and/or extensive responsibilities in advancing assets into clinical development.
