Established in 2001, Academic Hematology Oncology P.C. is seeking an experienced, board certified Hematologist/Oncologist to join their practice due to continued growth. The practice is part of a growing oncology network at Ascension St. John in southeast Michigan, and is located in the Van Elslander Cancer Center on campus at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit. The practice has grown significantly over the past 15 years and includes a deep support team in the office and in the cancer center with a broad-spectrum interest in benign and malignant hematological diseases and different aspects of clinical oncology. Dr. Zyad Kafri (as program director) is looking to find a partner as core faculty for the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship program which commenced in July 2015. The ACGME accreditation fellowship takes two new fellows per year for a total of 6 at each time. There are approximately 100 outpatient visits per week which includes follow-up and chemotherapy infusion. APP support is available in the office and in the hospital.  Inpatient rounding is shared equally amongst the other physician in the practice and shared with other core faculty, consists of ~ 20 patients per day, and each physician provides coverage two weeks per month. Weekend call schedule as shared with other providers. Office hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. This is a full time position.  The desirable qualifications include:

  • Completion of an ACGME accredited Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program
  • Minimum of three years post-fellowship experience preferred
  • Board certified in Hematology/Oncology
  • Interest in teaching
