The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center invites applications for a Johns Hopkins University leadership position in Washington, D.C. The Director will serve as the leader in the development of the Johns Hopkins comprehensive cancer programming in the National Capital Region, including the District of Columbia, Montgomery County, and the adjoining regions. This role is inclusive of all three components of the Johns Hopkins academic mission: clinical care, research, and teaching.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the leadership qualities necessary to develop and navigate a complex network of clinical and research partnerships. It is expected that the Director work closely with Johns Hopkins department chairs to establish clinical collaboration and support, research priorities and foster growth in order to create an interdisciplinary, collaborative research environment throughout the Cancer Center. This position reports directly to the Director of the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Johns Hopkins National Capital Region cancer services are located at the Sibley Memorial Hospital, and in a free standing cancer site near the Suburban Hospital in Montgomery County. Services include surgical oncology, medical oncology and radiation oncology, as well as ancillary services necessary for the diagnostics and care of cancer patients, and advanced cancer support services. A proton therapy center is approved and will be completed in 2019.
- M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. with a sustained record of peer reviewed funding, preferably by NCI.
- National, and preferably international, recognition in a field of oncology as evidenced by involvement in academic societies at a national level.
- Progressive administrative experience, preferably in an academic medical center setting.
- History of building integrated, multidisciplinary cancer programs
- Board certification in a cancer related discipline.
- Possession of, or eligibility for, a medical license in the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland
