Chief of Breast Surgery – Westchester Medical Center
The Department of Surgery at Westchester Medical Center is seeking a board certified academic surgeon with fellowship training in Breast Surgery and 5-10 years of clinical practice experience, to serve as Chief of Breast Surgery at the Professor or Associate Professor level. The surgeon will play a leadership role in the development and enhancement of a Women’s Oncology Program as part of our expanding Cancer Program, which includes Westchester Medical Center (WMC), the main academic affiliate teaching hospital of New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, and flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) and MidHudson Regional Hospital, a member of the WMCHealth and community hospital that includes the Redl Center for Cancer Care in Poughkeepsie, NY. WMC is accredited by the NAPBC, and the Commission on Cancer as an Academic Comprehensive Cancer Program, and recently achieved the Commission’s Outstanding Achievement Award.
WMC serves as the region’s tertiary referral, safety net hospital, so a commitment to serving at-risk populations and a demonstrated ability for delivering high-quality, evidence-based, collaborative, multidisciplinary, patient-centered and integrated care is required.
Applicant must be Board Certified in General Surgery, have completed a Breast Surgery Fellowship, and be eligible for a New York State Medical License. He/she will be expected to provide clinical leadership across our multi-hospital system. Successful candidates will be committed to patient care, resident, fellow and medical student education and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine. A commitment to research is essential. Participation in teaching activities with medical students, residents, fellows and other medical staff members as well as scholarly contributions and collaborative research are expected. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
