The Division of Hematology and Oncology and the Comprehensive Cancer Center in the School of Medicine, Department of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an outstanding academic physician investigator with expertise in the care of lung cancer as Section Head in Lung Cancer. The Section Head will be committed to furthering the academic and clinical development of an outstanding Lung Cancer program, to providing exemplary patient care in a comprehensive and integrated manner, conducting research in lung cancer and developing a strong portfolio of clinical trials to advance the care of lung cancer patients, and promoting collaborations between clinical and laboratory investigators to translate novel observations from bench-to-bedside. The program is supported by an outstanding multidisciplinary team of radiation oncologists, interventional pulmonologists and surgeons with expertise in evaluating and managing lung cancer. Appointments will be at the associate or full professor level, tenure earning, tenured or non-tenure earning, commensurate with experience. Applicants must have an MD degree, and board certified or board eligible in hematology and/or oncology. The Division is rapidly expanding its clinical and translational research and educational activities with heavy investment from the Department, School, and Cancer Center. The UAB NCI-funded Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of the nation’s leading cancer research and treatment centers. Faculty have access to several outstanding interdisciplinary programs including the UAB CTSI, the Alabama Drug Discovery Alliance, and flagship programs in Genomics/personalized medicine, advanced medical imaging, outcomes and effectiveness research and survivorship, amongst several others.
