Professorship in Head and Neck Oncology

The Wilmot Cancer Institute (WCI) at the University of Rochester Medical Center invites applications and nominations for the newly developed Linde Klein Professorship in Head and Neck Oncology.  This professorship is newly established to support a Clinician-Investigator in head and neck cancer.  While this professorship is not designated for any particular medical subspecialty or specific area of research, we anticipate recruiting a medical oncologist with a translational or patient-based research program.

The WCI provides the hub for cancer-focused research at URMC, attracting more than $20 million of NCI-relevant funding annually. WCI is a matrixed Cancer Center that provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer care at Strong Memorial Hospital and University of Rochester Medical Faculty Group facilities. In addition, WCI operates twelve satellite locations strategically placed throughout the Finger Lakes Region. Community cancer centers such as these present a distinct advantage for patients, employers, and communities by keeping the majority of cancer treatment close to home. WCI is the largest clinical cancer provider in upstate New York and its clinical programs have received both regional and national recognition.

Candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD, be board-certified, possess academic credentials appropriate for a faculty appointment, and be eligible for licensure in New York State.  The predominant criterion for appointment is a commitment to clinical excellence, research, and teaching. The candidate will be expected to develop the research program expanding the clinical trial portfolio.  Mentoring fellows, residents and medical students and possessing creativity and strong interpersonal skills in order to work in a collaborative and diverse faculty will be essential.

The review of applications, nominations, and expressions of interest will begin immediately and continue until an appointment is made.  All materials submitted will be considered in strict confidence by the Search Advisory Committee, chaired by Dr. Shawn Newlands.

Interested candidates should submit, in electronic form (Microsoft Word or PDF files preferred), a curriculum vitae and cover letter to:
