Tyler & Company has been retained by the Medical University of South Carolina for recruitment of multiple Physician-Scientists in the areas of Genitourinary, Brain, and Lung/Thoracic cancer research.

The Organization:  As South Carolina’s only comprehensive academic health center to provide a full range of programs in the biomedical sciences, MUSC is engaged in activities statewide.  Its campus is located on more than 80 acres in the city of Charleston, with an overall population of approximately 13,000 clinicians, faculty staff and students.  Nearly 3,000 students in six colleges (Dental Medicine, Graduate Studies, Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy) earn degrees at the baccalaureate, masters, doctoral and other professional levels.  In December 2014, MUSC launched Imagine MUSC 2020, a campaign to align the three integral missions of MUSC—breakthrough research, patient and family-centered care and cutting-edge education.

The Opportunity:  The MUSC Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) is recruiting innovative and successful Physician Scientists to join their expanding team.  The Physician Scientist will be responsible for a program of basic and/or translational cancer research that complements the strategic directions set forth by the Hollings Cancer Center Director.  Research in the areas of Genitourinary, Brain, and Lung/Thoracic cancer is preferable.  A significant start-up package and considerable resources are available in these expanding programs.

The Candidate:  The successful candidate must be a Doctor of Medicine with or without a Doctor of Philosophy (MD or MD/PhD).  They must be board certified in their clinical specialty with nationally-recognized accomplishments and excellence in research.  A distinguished record of scientific achievement evidenced by both publications and a strong track record of extramural peer-reviewed funding and development of interventional treatment trials is necessary.  Being an active clinician along with having a strong research program that will advance the clinical and translational research agenda of the Hollings Cancer Center is another requisite of the position(s).  Must be eligible and/or licensed to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina.
