Associate Director of Clinical Research

START, an international Phase I medical oncology program, is seeking a board certified, Phase I oncologist to serve as Associate Director of Clinical Research at its newest site, START Midwest, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

With six centers located on three continents, START conducts the worlds largest independent Phase I medical oncology program with more than 900 patients enrolled annually world wide. START’s mission is to accelerate the development of new anticancer drugs that will improve the quality of life and survival for patients with cancer. Our drug development program is not only furthering cancer research, but also offers hope to patients facing the toughest cancer battles.

START Midwest is affiliated with Cancer & Hematology Centers of Western Michigan (CHCWM) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. CHCWM is Michigan’s largest independent oncology practice with 24 physicians serving cities throughout Western Michigan and seeing over 6000 new patients annually.

Grand Rapids is the second-largest city in Michigan, the largest city in West Michigan and is home to several world class health sciences facilities.

The successful candidate must be a citizen or permanent resident of the US and be licensed or eligible for licensure in Michigan. The salary and benefits package will be competitive and commensurate with experience and training.

Responsibilities include:
• Clinical expertise in oncology patient care management
• Principal investigator of clinical studies
• Clinical research
• Serving as thought leader for pharmaceutical company sponsors

Required qualifications:
• M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. Degree
• Board eligible/certified Medical Oncology
• Expertise in Phase 1 oncology drug development and/or clinical pharmacology
