Section Chief, Hematology/Oncology
at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center
(MEDVAMC)

The Section of Hematology/Oncology, Dept of Medicine and the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston are seeking a Section Chief, Hematology/Oncology at the Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC), one of 4 hospitals closely affilitated with Baylor and the DLDCCC.

Applicants will have a major role in the DLDCCC where faculty generate more than $160M annually in cancer related research funding including SPORE grants in breast cancer and lymphoma. DLDCCC includes outstanding research programs in Cell and Gene Therapy, Breast Cancer, Nuclear Receptors, Pediatric Oncology, Prevention and Population Science, Cancer Biology and Cancer Evolvability, as well as 12 disease-oriented multidisciplinary working groups. 

The MEDVAMC Cancer Center provides care to more than 1500 new cancer patients each year.  Center physicians have expertise in colorectal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic surgery, otorhinolaryngology, urologic, and thoracic surgery. The radiation oncology department is a leader in stereotactic body radiation therapy within the VA system. Veterans have access to the MEDVAMC Cancer Center via tele-health and virtual tumor boards.

The successful candidate will be Oncology/ Hematology board certified with at least 5 years of clinical practice as well as prior administrative or leadership experience, active research, and an established record in education and mentoring. Clinician researchers are potential candidates for a generous recruitment award from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institue of Texas.  The applicant should qualify for academic appointment at Baylor College of Medicine, at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
