The Department of Oncology at the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion with Spectrum Health is seeking a Department Chief to serve in an over-arching leadership capacity for the oncology department, leading a talented tenured downline which includes three highly skilled division chiefs and numerous providers that support the great work that the cancer team provides in the continued care of oncology inpatients, working collaboratively with outpatient oncologists and other specialists.

This role is ideal for candidates interested in further developing their professional focus in the field of strategic, programmatic development, research, and clinical leadership in the context of a major medical system. Extensive collaborative opportunities with multiple disciplines provide an outstanding environment for research initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes/safety, optimizing efficiency of patient progression through hospitalization, implementing new systems and processes, and establishing more consistent standards of practice in the acute care setting.

The Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion is the largest cancer care provider in the region, with six locations throughout West Michigan. We offer more than 150 cancer specialists and nearly 600 employees specially trained in cancer care.

Many of our cancer experts are:
• Double or triple board certified with fellowship training
• Faculty at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine
• Active in clinical research and education

Spectrum Health is the only health system in the region and one of very few in the state that offers specialized, multidisciplinary clinics for almost every cancer.

Required credentials include an M.D. or D.O. and board certified in the oncology field, or equivalent qualifications in compliance with medical staff credentialing process. Four years of administrative experience leading a large cancer health program, and/or working in a large health system setting focusing on physician performance management and the measurement and improvement of clinical care processes.
