The UACC/SJHMC is seeking disease-site section leaders in the specialties of Thoracic, GI and Breast. These 3 individuals will be medical oncologists who are fully employed by the Dignity Health Medical Group and have knowledge, skills and commitment essential to the success of the UACC/SJHMC Affiliation.

Our goal is to create and sustain best-in-class patient care and clinical research program.  The Disease-site Section Leaders will ensure the growth of the clinical patient care program and the implementation of a clinical trial research program.  The Section leaders should have a strong interest and some experience in cancer prevention or treatment research and be prepared to establish and facilitate the growth of a clinical trials program for their respective disease-site in collaboration with the UA Deputy Director, the VP, Oncology Services Dignity Health AZ and the UA Associate Director for Research Administration.  

This program should produce good outcomes for patients, and include our participating community providers/partners where appropriate.  The UACC/SJHMC Disease Section Leaders report directly to the Chief Medical Officer, Dignity Health Medical Group and have a matrix report to the UA Deputy Director of the UA Cancer Center at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s.  

The Section Leaders provides oversight and are responsible for the management of their specialty area including the clinical care of patients, teaching, research, patient safety and quality, and the responsible use of resources.   The Section Leaders will work collaboratively with Dignity Health and St. Joseph’s leadership and UACC and to assist in the recruitment of disease-specific team members. 


  • M.D. or D.O.
  • AZ Medical License,
  • Board certified in medical oncology
  • Evidence of successful leadership/management experience
  • Clinical trial experience
  • Evidence of teaching participation
  • Acceptable references from supervisor, peer, and subordinate; from a registered nurse; and from a research mentor
  • Willing to abide by and promote the values of SJHMC and the UA.
