The Department of Thoracic/Head & Neck Medical Oncology (THNMO) at MD Anderson Cancer Center invites applicants for an open rank term tenure/tenure-track, full-time academic appointment at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or full Professor focused on head and neck cancer clinical care and research. This clinical investigator position offers the opportunity for professional growth and development by joining an exciting and active group of clinicians, physician-scientists, and clinical, basic science, and translational investigators. The successful candidate will closely interact with the many ongoing research programs of the department focusing on carcinogenesis and prevention, treatment, biomarker development, and other projects in support of precision therapy for head and neck cancer. The faculty member will have access to THNMO’s substantial patient resources, core facilities, animal models, molecular pathology laboratories, and educational/training programs. THNMO is currently funded by a NIH Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE), the HPV-Related Cancers and Lung Cancer Moon Shot Programs, and other programmatic and peer-reviewed grants that facilitate the department’s translational research initiatives. Responsibilities will include establishing a head and neck cancer-focused clinical research program, providing clinical care to patients in the Head and Neck Cancer Clinic, and teaching in the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology and Division of Cancer Medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead a clinical research program, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary collaborations, peer-reviewed funding, and high-impact publication.
Applicants should hold or be eligible for medical licensure in Texas and must possess an MD or MD/PhD with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in the subspecialty of medical oncology. Successful candidates should have demonstrated expertise in head and neck medical oncology clinical research.
