Global Program Leader, Program
Portfolio and Alliance Management (PPAM)


Seattle Genetics is seeking a highly motivated Global Program Leader (GPL) to lead a cross-functional team that is accountable, in partnership with the functional leaders on the Core Team, for the strategy and seamless execution of mid to pivotal stage global drug development programs.  The Global Program Leader is an experienced people leader and will work with the Program Manager (PM) to optimize team input, engagement, governance effectiveness, and overall team health. This visible leadership position reports to the Vice President of Program, Portfolio and Alliance Management. 


  • Lead cross-functional Core Team(s) to develop and drive an integrated product development strategy
  • Act as main point of contact and program representative to executive management and governance committees
  • For partnered programs serve as Alliance Manager to ensure productive and positive collaboration that meets the overall program objectives
  • Negotiate with and influence key internal and external stakeholders
  • Works closely to coordinate strategic and operational efforts with key functions, including Clinical, Regulatory, CMC, Medical Affairs and Commercial to ensure strategic alignment and seamless execution to deliver the greatest value to patients, physicians, payers, and Seattle Genetics
  • Drive team objective setting, prioritization and tracking ensuring adherence to plan and strategy
  • Drive risk management, issue identification and resolution and contingency planning
  • Create a positive team environment that instills trust and ensures clear transparent communications, and builds consensus behind the overall goal/vision for the product
  • Advance functional and organizational excellence as a member of the Program, Portfolio and Alliance Management leadership team
  • May supervise one or more Program Managers


  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in global product development, including regulatory filings (BLA/NDA, sBLAs/sNDAs), and product launches/life cycle management  is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, academic and/or medical research environments
  • Proven ability to lead and influence data-driven strategy planning and implementation
  • A proactive and strategic thinker, with strong decision-making skills
  • Experience working with corporate partners and alliance management
  • Proven ability to function effectively across a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders and constituents, with the ability and strength to focus a team to work towards its goals
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (including presentation skills) with success in influencing all levels cross-functionally
  • Excellent business acumen with demonstrated ability to align teams to corporate strategy to achieve business and project objectives
  • Strong staff management and mentoring experience and skills
  • Highly collaborative with outstanding relationship building skills
  • Experience in biologics and oncology is desirable


  • Ph.D., MD or MBA or advanced degree in biomedical sciences or one of the disciplines related to drug development
