ACADEMIC POSITION IN GU MEDICAL ONCOLOGY

The Division of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine and the NCI Designated Mays Cancer Center at UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson is recruiting an individual to lead our genitourinary (GU) medical oncology program. We expect that this individual will hold an academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level. She/he will report to the Chief of Hematology/Oncology and be expected to have administrative, clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities in the Mays Cancer Center, the region’s only NCI-designated Cancer Center that now has a powerful practice collaboration with MD Anderson Cancer Center combining strengths to enhance care and advance cancer research and education. The Mays Cancer Center has over a 40-year tradition of excellence in developing new cancer therapies, understanding cancer biology, and decreasing the burden of suffering from Cancer in San Antonio and South Texas. The successful candidate would join a thriving multidisciplinary GU Oncology practice, with world class urologic Oncologists and radiation oncologists as key collaborators, and robust infrastructure for investigator-initiated and population-based clinical trials including experimental therapeutics at the Institute for Drug Development (IDD), and trials led by the SWOG GU Committee. Candidates with expertise in Bladder Cancer, Renal Cancer, and Prostate Cancer are preferred and will be expected to contribute to the clinical and research programs of our Multidisciplinary Bladder Cancer, Renal Cancer, and Prostate Cancer teams. Candidates will be expected to mentor the career development of junior faculty in the GU oncology program. Individuals with a track record of clinical trials leadership and clinical research are encouraged to apply. Candidates should hold an M.D. or MD/PhD and be board certified in Medical Oncology and eligible for licensure by the Texas Medical Board.
