The Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center currently seeks applications from board-certified or board-eligible medical oncologists/hematologists for a Medical Director position for its premier satellite, Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center in Danvers, MA. The Medical Director will also serve as the Director of Hematology Oncology at Northshore Medical Center. While primarily community-based, this position will maintain and manage clinical oversight of the system’s program with consistent and vital collaboration with the main campus in Boston. The Medical Director will oversee a group of ~20 oncologists and will be responsible for program growth, multi-disciplinary program development, clinical research and supportive care services integration.
Candidates must be motivated to work with multi-disciplinary leadership teams inclusive of medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, imaging and pathology. The candidate will also work collaboratively with the Mass General Cancer Center main campus and Northshore Medical Center. Previous experience in development of a program or service line is preferred. An entrepreneurial approach to the development and future growth of a cancer practice is a must.
Interested candidates should have a record of success in the clinical care of hematology/oncology patients and progressive leadership experience. Confidence working in a community environment, and dedication and willingness to participate in a multidisciplinary care setting are essential. Ideal candidates will have experience leading multidisciplinary teams of physicians and other health professionals and will be comfortable balancing both clinical and administrative responsibilities.
Massachusetts licensure is required, and the role will carry an HMS appointment given the integration with the MGH Cancer Center’s main campus.
