The Houston Methodist Cancer Center (HMCC), a division of the Houston Methodist Hospital is seeking an exceptional candidate to serve as the Associate Director for Clinical investigation. Houston Methodist is ranked the No 1. Hospital in Texas and nationally-ranked in eight specialty areas per U.S. News and World Report, 2017.  The Houston Methodist Cancer Center consists of 60,000 square feet of clinical facilities dedicated for the comprehensive management and care of cancer patients;  furthermore Houston Methodist is one of the nation’s largest private nonprofit hospitals with 824 operating beds, 400,000 emergency room and outpatient visits, and more than 6,100 employees. The Houston Methodist Cancer Center is an established Center of Excellence noted for is distinction in clinical care, research, and academics.  Adjacent to the Houston Methodist Cancer Center’s clinical facilities lies the Houston Methodist Research Institute; a 440,000 square foot translational research building, focused on the development of cures and supporting all phases of clinical trials.

The ideal candidate will have extensive leadership experience with building multi-disciplinary teams focused on the design, implementation, and active management of clinical trials in medical oncology settings.  The expected academic rank for this position is Associate or Full Professor with academic appointments within the Institute for Academic Medicine at Houston Methodist Research Institute, and at Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University.   Houston Methodist offers competitive compensation and start-up, commensurate with both experience and track record of success.

Position Responsibilities

Work with the Director of HMCC in the development of strategic and programmatic goals of the Cancer Center’s Clinical Trials Office.

 

Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI) related to clinical trials

 

Implement strategies to manage performance related to clinical trial start-up and accrual rates across the multi-hospital system

 

Serve as a key point of contact for faculty members and oversee the development and implementation of Protocol Management Review Committees (PMRC)

 

Develop key relationships internally and externally in order to foster industry and academic collaboration
