BANNER MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER, PHOENIX, AZ

The Division of Hematology & Oncology at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center is actively recruiting for a Division Chief to lead our team on the Banner Gateway Medical Center campus and at additional facilities in the Phoenix metropolitan area and Northern Colorado. The Banner MD Anderson program is expanding its leadership team to accommodate its remarkable growth since opening in 2011. Banner MD Anderson seeks in its next Chief of Hematology/Oncology an exceptional clinician with proven skills and values to lead a highly successful clinical enterprise.

The Chief of Hematology/Oncology provides clinical and operational oversight of the 22 hematology/oncology physicians at its main cancer center campus in Gilbert, AZ. This is a state-of-the-art cancer center, designed in collaboration with the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, which offers comprehensive cancer services in both the ambulatory and inpatient settings.  The oncology practice is characterized by sub-specialization with active involvement in clinical research, and diseased-site multi-disciplinary teams and programs. Division services include a thriving stem-cell transplant program (FACT accredited for autologous and allogeneic transplants, and effector-cell therapy), and a broad portfolio of clinical trials including early phase trials. In addition to oversight of hematology/oncology at our main campus, the Chief will lead the clinical program for an additional 13 oncologists within the Division at regional sites in the Phoenix metro and Northern Colorado areas as part of the Banner MD Anderson program. The candidate will be expected to lead a highly integrated team of oncologists and interface closely with the multidisciplinary cancer program. The Chief’s role is to lead the effort to achieve the Division’s strategic, clinical, academic, operational and financial goals in collaboration with UT-MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Chief will be expected to promote growth in research activities in close collaboration with the newly appointed Chief of Research Division.

Candidates should have excellent clinical training with demonstrated disease-site expertise and strong clinical research experience. Qualified candidates are required to be board certified with demonstrated leadership experience in an academic or large health care system.

Banner Health, a Top 10 Health System for clinical performance according to Thomson Reuters, has teamed up with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the world’s most respected centers focused on cancer patient care, research, education and prevention to open the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a partner member of MD Anderson Cancer Network, Banner MD Anderson is a fully integrated, clinical extension of MD Anderson and brings an unprecedented level of cancer care to the greater Phoenix area. MD Anderson’s mission to “eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research, education and prevention” complements Banner Health’s mission “to make a difference in people’s lives through excellent patient care.” MD Anderson is one of only 41 comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute. For the past 25 years, MD Anderson has ranked as one of the nation’s top two cancer centers in U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Hospitals” survey.
