Physician – Hematology / Oncology

West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology/Oncology and the WVU Cancer Institute, are actively recruiting academically oriented Hematologist/Oncologists. Enrollment of patients in clinical and translational research is a core institutional value supported by an excellent cancer clinical trials unit.  Development of disease focused clinical and translational research within an individual faculty member’s area of clinical focus is also encouraged, and start-up support is available through the Cancer Institute and the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute for qualified applicants.

Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree (the employer accepts foreign educational equivalent) and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license.  Candidates must have completed an accredited internal medicine residency and hematology/oncology or oncology fellowship and be board certified/eligible in oncology at the time of appointment.  Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials. Responsibilities will include providing excellent patient care as well as teaching medical students, internal medicine residents and hem/onc fellows.   

The WVU Cancer Institute is one of the country’s top USNWR rated cancer treatment centers.  Multidisciplinary medical teams use the latest cancer therapies, sophisticated technologies, and patient-driven research to deliver the best possible treatment in state-of-the-art facilities.  We offer treatment to those in West Virginia as well as patients from five bordering states.  We have a very active clinical trials program, pharmaceutical studies, and emerging statewide clinical trials network. 

We are experiencing exponential growth and are recruiting talented practitioners with an interest in academic careers.  The WVU Cancer Institute has announced major expansion plans for the main campus in Morgantown, WV and has recently added several regional cancer treatment sites with continued planning efforts to add additional sites in the next 1-2 years.

  • Lung / Thoracic
  • HPB
  • Bone / Connective Tissues
  • Lymph / Hematopoietic
