YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, VP Real World Evidence- Oncology, are to: 

 

  • Strategically represent RWE within Oncology SBU Medical Affairs organization, lead and ensure thatthe function provides RWE strategy and expertise to the global Oncology organization to ensure the successful development and commercialization to maximize the value to patients;
  • The individual will take direct accountability for strategic oversight  of real world evidence of the Oncology portfolio on a global basis both to ensure successful execution but also that these activities are sustainable and compliant with medical governance;
  • The Head of Oncology RWE will lead a team of Medical professionals to set up the strategic RWE vision and plans for SBU Oncology marketed and development products;

  • This team will establish, lead, and generate evidence for Oncology SBU focusing on unmet Medical data gaps; providing background and frame for new indications for GCD, Regulatory and the Biomarker team;

  • Building a world class Oncology RWE expertise to collaborate within in the frame of Medical Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Development, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, and Commercial to secure Real practice data generation; match with established clinical data; strategic RWE publication planning and internal and external RWE

    education and communication channels;

  • The Head of Oncology RWE will lead the planning of innovative RWE strategies and company study plans from D4 onwards with a special focus on the Life-Cycle indications for the Oncology SBU portfolio to complement the clinical development program and ensure that pre- and post-launch requirements of external stakeholders are met;

  • Will represent a consolidated medical RWE viewpoint for strategic decision making and execution of global medical affairs activities;

  • A key contribution will be a robust RWE vision to support the use of Bayer Oncology products and develop RWE publication strategy;

  • This role will pioneer best practices for the Oncology SBU and optimize RWE research across multiple functions (e.g. Medical Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Development (Companion Diagnostics), Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics);

  • The Head of Oncology RWE will establish and strategically manage relationships with key data providers (Flatiron, Navigant, Kaiser Permanente, Swedish National Healthcare database, etc.) not only from clinical claims datasets but will work with Biobanks (project GENIE) to guide Biomarker research and development programs within Bayer Oncology

    SBU;

  • The role will establish and further develop the network with external RWE experts, will participate in dialogue with FDA, EMA, PMDA, and other respected Health Authorities to develop Global Oncology Real World Evidence Regulatory frame to support registration of innovative Oncology drugs;

  • Manage real time expert panel to assess Bayer Oncology RWE projects and establish Bayer SBU Oncology as equal partner and innovator in an area of Real Life Research.

  • The primary responsibility of the Vice President, Head of Oncology Real World Evidence is to provide leadership across the Oncology SBU to Develop and execute an enterprise strategy on the acquisition and use of real world data by the organization;

  • Optimally leverage Real World Data throughout from early development to commercialization;

  • Will represent a consolidated medical RWE viewpoint for strategic decision making and execution of global medical affairs activities;

  • Externally promote Bayer SBU Oncology leadership in this area with external thought leaders;

  • Develop and support an industry-leading team;

  • The Vice President provides leadership for strategic initiatives to advance Bayer’s capabilities and external partnership opportunities through close coordination and collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization;

  • Would represent Bayer Oncology amongst Real World Evidence Networks and Organizations Globally;

  • The Head of Oncology Real World Evidence will provide leadership to develop, establish, and communicate Oncology Real World Evidence strategy throughout the SBU;

  • Lead cross-functional Oncology SBU Real World Evidence strategic alignment that provides high quality scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness, safety and value of the oncology portfolio for the diverse needs of physicians, patients, and regulators;

  • Guide cross-functionally aligned, scientifically sound Real World Evidence generation plan (including IIR RWE program) to meet Regulatory/ health ministry / HA requirements on safety surveillance (e.g.: Risk Management Plan requirements), (comparative) effectiveness requirements from HA and TL bodies, adherence and persistence, Real World Performance and treatment outcomes, as well as providing insights into resource consumption / economic implications associated with SoC and Bayer Oncology products;

  • Keep Bayer SBU Oncology in line with recent RWE trends and innovations;

  • Apply understanding of largest Real World Evidence datasets to the strategy of SBU Oncology Data Generation Program;

  • Build and maintain relationships with key players in the field of Big Data;

  • Lead new strategic approaches with external stakeholders, RWE team members, and affected internal functions in Bayer by thinking outside of the box.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • MD required ; Additionally:  Advanced academic degree in epidemiology, health economics or comparable public health science preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or Epidemiology including close interactions with Regulatory / HA /authorities in approval, assessment, appraisal situations;
  • Preferably experience in working in hospital or health authority setting;
  • Track record of successfully evaluating strategic options for RWE generation, designing, implementing, analyzing and reporting RWE projects;
  • Proven leadership and management skills in a matrix organization;
  • Highly developed ethics and integrity;
  • Experienced in identifying and resolving complex problems;
  • Passion for cross-functional collaboration and excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Knowledge of the Oncology portfolio is required
