Responsible for providing medical leadership in Oncology to the Roche Sequencing Solutions business unit as part of the Medical Affairs team within the Medical & Scientific Affairs Group.  Interactions will mainly be with the following groups: Regulatory, Quality, Assay Development, Marketing and Business Development.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the Medical Affairs team within Medical & Scientific Affairs the Director Medical Affairs is responsible for Knowledge Exchange in and outside the Organization:

  • Serve as medical expert in Oncology for the company, externally and internally
  • Provide medical input into the marketing plans, market access strategy, promotional content and other business relevant matters
  • Work with Roche affiliates on knowledge exchange strategy and execution, including preparation of presentations, peer-review manuscripts and scientific papers
  • Respond to unsolicited questions from physicians in accordance to Roche Diagnostics’ SOPs, facilitate their needs of up to date scientific data, by ensuring they have the best quality information available

As part of Medical Affairs team within Medical & Scientific Affairs the Director Medical Affairs is responsible for Data Generation & Scientific Support:

  • Create and execute the Oncology medical plan including medical activities such as advisory boards, scientific symposia and other medical education efforts
  • Manage and/or executes on publication strategy for publications/abstracts/reports/medical reviews and, if applicable, medical training materials
  • Receive and review Investigator Initiated Study (IIS) proposals on their scientific value/relevance, and following-up with investigators, in accordance to all local laws and regulations
  • Support the development and adoption of DNA based testing in Oncology through medical communications, scientific support for promotional activities and other related medical activities including, but not limited to studies, trainings, and medical information

As part of the Medical Affairs team within Medical & Scientific Affairs the Director Medical Affairs is responsible for Strategic Partnerships:

  • Interact with healthcare providers (HCPs) to understand their views, preferences and interests and where Roche can partner with them
  • Help profile physician practices, needs, preferences and views of new scientific data
  • Determine physician interest in ongoing research and educational events
  • Provide support to speakers in the development of materials

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal Training/Education:

  • MD (preferred) or PhD with clinical experience in Oncology and/or cancer genetics (board certification in Oncology preferred)

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in industry (including medical affairs and/or clinical development), academic research, healthcare management experience and/or other medically relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to work in high performance teams
  • Ability to work closely with and influence others in a matrix setting to achieve alignment and consensus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • International experience, working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements under which clinical trials are conducted by the diagnostics industry
  • Knowledge of the US and international reimbursement landscape and process in diagnostics is beneficial
  • High ethical standards
  • Personal adaptability and ability to lead change  

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Up to 30% travel, nationally and internationally
