Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) seeks to recruit a dynamic leader for the Deputy Director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC). This individual will be recognized for cancer leadership in patient care, education, and research on a scale that merits national preeminence.

With a research portfolio that has grown to more than $180 million, the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at BCM continues to foster groundbreaking research within seven programs: Breast Cancer, Cancer Biology, Cancer Evolvability, Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences, Nuclear Receptor, Cancer Cell and Gene Therapy and Pediatric Cancer. DLDCCC has successfully competed for $191M in CPRIT funds for research, recruitment, core facilities, prevention, screening, and outreach and has 35 active collaborative grants.

One of only 50 cancer centers nationwide with the “Comprehensive” designation from the NCI, DLDCCC embraces a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care across the disease continuum having conducted 387 clinical trials between 2017-2018.  DLDCCC has become the Cancer Center for all Houstonians through its affiliation with the Harris Health System and Ben Taub Hospital, the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Texas Children’s Hospital and Texas Children’s Cancer Center, and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center including the new state-of-the-art, outpatient clinic at the McNair Campus shared by BCM and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Significant vision, communication and collaboration skills, entrepreneurial and business acumen are required to effectively lead the combined clinical, research, and educational enterprise of the DLDCCC. The successful candidate ideally will possess an MD, MD/PhD or PhD as well as a significant track record of research in a cancer-related discipline and proven leadership experience in an NCI designated cancer center.
