The US Food and Drug Administration's Office of Surveillance and Epidemiology-Division of Pharmacovigilance (DPV) is recruiting for an hematologist/oncologist for the position of Physician at our campus in Silver Spring, MD. At FDA/DPV, you can make a difference in protecting the health of the American people. FDA serves as the consumer watchdog of America’s healthcare system by making sure that safe and effective drugs are available to improve the health of consumers and that prescription and over-the-counter drugs, both brand and generic, work correctly and that the health benefits outweigh known risks.  The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary safety team responsible for the surveillance of adverse events associated with hematology and oncology drugs and biologics, which are regulated by FDA. DPV evaluates and interprets information from adverse event reports in the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database and other data sources. This evaluation requires the utilization of the incumbent’s medical-scientific judgment in determining the adequacy of clinical documentation, the severity of the adverse event, and the possible causal relationship between specific therapeutic agents and the adverse event. Physicians use post-marketing data sources to detect rare and serious adverse events that were not identified during the drug development program, contribute to written scientific evaluations of emerging safety issues, and provide medical expertise to the pharmacovigilance team.

Successful applicants will be a graduate of an accredited school of medicine, have completed residency training in hematology/oncology with current practice experience, possess a thorough knowledge of contemporary pharmacotherapy, and a license in good-standing to practice medicine in at least one US state.
