The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) at Jefferson Health, in partnership with the Department of Medical Oncology, is seeking a new Vice-Chair at the Professor level who will serve as the academic and administrative head of the Department of Medical Oncology Jefferson Northeast Division. Jefferson Northeast is the largest healthcare provider in Northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County.  With three leading-edge community hospitals and a strong network of outpatient centers and primary care physicians, Jefferson Northeast upholds a longstanding tradition of bringing advanced medicine and personal care to the many communities it serves. Jefferson Northeast hospitals include Jefferson Torresdale, Jefferson Frankford, and Jefferson Bucks. Jefferson Northeast is an integral division of the Jefferson Health System and is viewed as a strong contributor to the long-term success of the System, as well as a critical provider of services to its surrounding communities.

The Vice-Chair will be a nationally or internationally recognized expert in the field with an active clinical, translational or basic research program. This position will provide leadership and oversight on the administrative and operational, programmatic, educational, clinical and research activities of the Department through effective planning, performance improvement, and fiscal management. The Vice-Chair will provide ongoing supervision and evaluation of the quality of clinical care, medical staff effectiveness, and the delivery of inpatient and outpatient clinical activities to ensure the highest level of clinical care service for patients and their families. Working closely with the SKCC leadership, the individual will be involved in designing and building academic programs consistent and aligned with the requirements for NCI cancer center designation, identifying new growth opportunities, and assuring the maintenance and continuous assessment of consistently high-quality performance of care to enhance referral relationships and support cross disciplinary academic programs.

This vision will be supported by a strong and dedicated commitment by the SKCC Director and a large commitment of resources to grow the Department of Medical Oncology. The Vice-Chair will report to the SKCC Director (Dr. Karen Knudsen) and the Chair of the Department of Medical Oncology (Dr. Neil Flomenberg).

Required Qualifications: MD or equivalent degree from an accredited professional school; Board certified in Medical Oncology, current license to practice medicine; Five (5) or more years as a senior leader of clinical operations with a successful track record demonstrating increased strategic responsibility in a complex, academic healthcare organization; Record of excellence in patient care; Strong research background; Strong clinical trials experience is highly desirable; Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to build strong, sustainable partnering relationships; Demonstrated experience working with and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member.
