Endowed Chair, Hematologic Malignancies

The Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine, and the Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina are seeking an outstanding physician scientist with peer-reviewed funding in hematologic malignancies and/or bone marrow transplant.  Applicants must have an MD or MD PhD degree, be board certified in hematology and/or oncology, and have a strong research background with leadership skills required to drive forward team science.  This position is open to advanced Assistant Professors as well as Associate and Full Professors. 

The successful candidate will be provided with a significant start-up package, be nominated to an endowed chair, play an integral role in the Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) with significant leadership possibilities. The ideal candidate is expected to be a strong candidate for the open HCC Associate Director of Clinical Sciences position or a Program co-Leader position. 

The Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated cancer center in South Carolina and has state-of-the-art clinical and research facilities.  HCC has NCI approved programs in developmental cancer therapeutics, cancer immunology, cancer biology, and cancer control, as well as multiple shared resource cores and state-of-the-art clinical and research facilities. These include a highly developed clinical trials office with a growing multi-center trials network and Phase I trials program, a translational science laboratory, a robust biorepository and tissue analysis resource, and a clean-cell evaluation and therapy facility.  The Blood and Marrow Transplant and Hematologic Malignancies program is the largest in South Carolina, is FACT accredited and supports a robust portfolio of clinical trials.  The transplant program is also a Blue Cross Blue Shield “Blue Distinct” Center of Excellence. In addition, clinical and translational research at The Hollings Cancer Center and the University is supported by an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award.
