At the direction of the NCCC Medical Director, NCCC Manchester, Nashua & Concord, participates in hematology and oncology patient consultation, care, and teaching at the Norris Cotton Cancer Centers at DH-Manchester and DH-Concord. The position will spend four days in Manchester and one day in Concord. Opportunity for academic appointment with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth at a rank commensurate with experience.
I. Clinical Responsibilities (Outpatient)
- Provide clinical excellence and coordination of care to Hematology and Oncology patients at NCCC Manchester and DH Concord.
- Participate in subspecialty and interdisciplinary clinics.
- Identify area of oncology disease interest and integrate into both Lebanon, Nashua and Manchester subspecialty groups.
- Actively participate in quality and patient safety improvement initiatives.
- Participate in a fair proportion of the inpatient unit on-call schedule in Manchester and Nashua.
- Meets RVU benchmark as established by DHC per specialty.
- Obtain subspecialty board certification within five years of employment.
II. Clinical Responsibilities (Inpatient)
- Round on inpatient unit(s) when on-call.
- Communicate in an efficient manner with the hospitalists, radiologists, pathologists, and subspecialists in order to offer best clinical care.
- Respond promptly and with professionalism to hematology and oncology consult requests.
- Write and/or cosign inpatient consult notes.
- Be actively involved in consulting or admitting patients to Catholic Medical Center, Elliott Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
III. Research Responsibilities
- Participate fully in clinical research activities at NCCC.
- Accrual of patients to new and/or ongoing cooperative and industry clinical trials.
- Contribute to clinical research activities as part of patient care.
- Open new clinical trials in one’s own area of subspecialty interest.
- Support accrual on Dartmouth and non-Dartmouth clinical trials.
- Participate in educating the medical staff on a regular basis by answering their questions and offering teaching materials.
- Participate in building a hematology and oncology elective program available to medical, pharmacology, and NP/PA students regionally.
- Teach medical, pharmacology, PA/NP students on site and at the main campus in Lebanon.
- Participate in teaching activities within the hematology and oncology fellowship program.
- Participate in the core lecture series for hematology and oncology fellows at DHMC.
- Participate in Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center graduate and continuing medical education.
- Participate in Hematology/Oncology section and institutional CME programs.
- Develop oncology education programs for the southern region communities, which include CME programs in local community hospitals to educate medical personnel on oncology issues.
- Join in public and community education programs.
V. Administrative Responsibilities
- Spend approximately 8 hours per month @ NCCC Lebanon to accomplish the following:
- Participate in oncology and medical conferences, NCCC grand rounds and sectional committees.
- Integrate with the section faculty and other members of the NCCC within your clinical area of interest to foster research opportunities, enhance communication and jointly develop the subspecialty program.
- Represent NCCC in FNCCC events held in the local communities.
- Completion of an approved fellowship program in oncology and hematology with board eligible/board certification in this specialty and experience in the clinical care of Hematology/Oncology patients.
- A valid NH medical license is required, as is credentialing at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Catholic Medical Center, Elliot Hospital, Southern NH Medical Center and St. Josephs’ Hospital.
