ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
TERM TENURE TRACK

THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH DISPARITIES RESEARCH, Associate Professor, Term tenure-track, for a fulltime academic appointment. Candidates must have a strong record of scholarly achievement and extramural funding. We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in population based clinical, psychosocial, social, environmental, or geographic research; global health; biological sciences/translational research; anthropological/qualitative science; community-based participatory research; or implementation and dissemination science. However, applicants from all areas of expertise are welcome.

Qualifications include a doctoral degree in Sociology, Epidemiology, Public Health, Psychology, Demography, Anthropology, Geography, Communications, Biological Sciences, Medicine or related field.

These positions are fully funded, with an obligation for only 40% extramural support following the third year of appointment. Salary is extremely competitive and commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research with the ultimate goal of eliminating cancer-related disparities with a particular focus on minority and underserved populations. In addition to research commitment, the candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate with research investigators in public health and/or medical fields of study.

The Department of Health Disparities Research (www.mdanderson. org/healthdisparities) provides unusually rich opportunities for disparities research and an exceptional infrastructure. Multidisciplinary opportunities in both community-based and clinical research are readily available. The Department of Health Disparities Research currently comprises 6 faculty members. The MD Anderson Cancer Center is located within the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. Houston is a dynamic, multicultural city with a very affordable cost of living.
