Carle Foundation Hospital is excited to add a Hematology/Oncology Physician at Carle Cancer Center in Urbana, Illinois. Hematology/Oncology Physician would practice at our main campus in Urbana with one day work per week at one of Carle’s Hematology/Oncology satellite locations. Training and interest in both Hematology and Oncology are required. An interest in GI or Thoracic malignancies is a plus.
Candidates with experience and new graduates are very welcome to apply. Mentorship for new graduates will be provided. Hematology/Oncology Physician would work with seven (7) other Oncologists in the practice. Patients are admitted to the hospital by Hospitalists’ Service. Both in-patient oncology unit and out-patient oncology clinic also have on staff Nurse Practitioner (NPs) who work with oncologists. The practice’s main location is in Urbana, IL with several satellite locations in the East Central Illinois. The practice has radiation oncology, surgical oncology, gynecologic oncology and breast surgery at Carle Cancer Center with colorecral surgery, interventional radiology, urology, neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, and thoracic surgery at Carle Foundation Hospital. Carle Cancer Center is a part of Carle Foundation Hospital and both are located at the same campus in Urbana allowing all services to be integrated into our Multi-disciplinary Cancer Care Model. EPIC electronic medical record is utilized.
Hematology/Oncology Physician would enjoy a very generous compensation package in a stable, vertically integrated Carle Health System, while practicing in a multi-disciplinary setting with Weekly Disease Specific Tumor Boards (Upper GI, Lower GI, Breast, Thoracic, etc.), and a strong support from Radiation Oncology and all Surgical Services. Carle Health system is one of the very few health systems in the nation to offer its own health insurance product – Health Alliance Medical Plans (HAMP). In 2018, Carle and the Univ. of Illinois opened their doors to first medical student class at the new Carle Illinois College of Medicine. Academic appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Carle Cancer Center has a strong clinical cancer research with a National Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) Grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and currently > 100 open clinical trials for cancer patients in the East Central Illinois. For candidates with a strong academic background, a research component will be considered. Carle Cancer Center is a home of Stephens Family Clinical Research Institute with an existing opportunity to support investigator initiated studies. In addition, Carle Cancer Center has a close collaboration with the Univ. of Illinois Basic Science Cancer Center in Urbana, Illinois.
Champaign-Urbana is a home of the Univ. of Illinois with more than 40,000 students. This is a very cosmopolitan place with a variety of restaurants offering international cuisine and a proximity of two large metropolitan areas, Chicago and Indianapolis (only 2-hour drive).
