The Genomic Medicine Department at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is accepting applications for an Open Rank, Term Tenure-Track faculty at the level of Assistant, Associate or Professor.  This position reports to the Chair.

The Department of Genomic Medicine is a basic/translational department situated within the largest clinical division at the Cancer Center. This unique placement facilitates deep, collaborative work spanning across many areas of medical oncology and also extending into multiple other divisions. As such, we are seeking faculty who are enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute in this dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.  Areas of focus within Genomic Medicine currently include modeling dynamic cancer evolution, multidimensional exploration of cancer patient heterogeneity over time and under therapy, the role of microbiome in response/adverse events, the impact of higher order chromatin on tumor biology through to studies focused on the molecular underpinnings of premalignancy and cancer risk.

Driving these research efforts, our faculty are comprised of both a strong primary core investigators including Giulio Draetta, Kunal Rai, Rob Jenq, Linghua Wang, Andrea Viale and Andy Futreal. As well, the Department focuses on strong secondary appointments across various departments and divisions including Surgery, Thoracic Head/Neck Medical Oncology, Leukemia, Lymphoma-Myeloma, Internal Medicine, Sarcoma Medical Oncology, Epidemiology, Pathology, and Cancer Biology, with faculty including Jen Wargo, Jay Zhang, Koichi Takahashi, Michael Green, Keila Torres, Paul Scheet, Larry Kwong and Ron DePinho.

The Department has state of the art sequencing capability, including single cell platforms as well as a dedicated bioinformatics group. As well, the Department takes a lead role in driving molecular profiling and computational biology efforts at the Institution.

The faculty member will be expected to develop an independent research program leveraging and contributing to the translational mission of the Department. Physician Scientists are encouraged to apply as are investigators from other disciplines who are excited by the challenges of driving molecular phenotypes to clinical impact.  Applicants will be expected to develop a base of external, peer-reviewed funding support as well as engage in various internal/external collaborative research funding opportunities. Importantly, the ideal candidate will engage fully with a multidisciplinary, highly interactive fast-paced research environment and develop substantial collaborative efforts across the breadth of the Cancer Center and beyond.
