The Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), a division of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), announces a call for applications for an Assistant Research Physician (Staff Clinician), an exciting opportunity intended for physicians with an interest in translating bench-to-bedside research to clinical trials, especially focused on hematologic malignancies. LMB’s Clinical Immunotherapy Section (CIS), led by Dr. Robert J. Kreitman, focuses on developing recombinant immunotoxins and other treatments for hairy cell leukemia. The successful candidate will take the lead in trial development and modification, patient recruitment and care, and in writing up clinical results. LMB is a vibrant, multidisciplinary research community featuring innovative, high-impact bench-to-bedside research and close collaboration between physicians and scientists with a primary focus on hematologic cancers including hairy cell leukemia. Key skills include: familiarity with biomarker-driven study design, protocol development and patient-oriented research; knowledge related to the ethical and regulatory issues of conducting clinical research involving human subjects; experience with the collection and management of research data; and interest in community outreach and teaching medical oncology fellows.
