Assistant Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment (CFA)

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Department of Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (SCTCT) invites applicants for a full-time academic appointment at the level of Assistant Professor to develop a clinical and translational research program investigating effective cellular therapy products for patients who suffer from cancer, infectious diseases or autoimmune disorders as well as develop strategies to enhance the potency and cytotoxicity of NK cells against tumors using state of the art gene-editing technologies. This position will also support the creation and maintenance of systems to ensure quality for all products handled through the SCTCT Cellular Therapy Research Laboratories, plan and conduct in-service sessions on current scientific advances and new technology, support the preparation and submission of Investigational New Drug (IND) documents. This position offers the opportunity for professional growth and development by joining an exciting and active group of clinicians, physician-scientists, and clinical, basic science, and translational investigators. The successful candidate will closely interact with the many ongoing research programs of the department focusing on carcinogenesis and prevention, treatment, cellular therapy development, and other projects in support of cellular therapies in hematological malignancies. The faculty member will have access to SCTCT’s substantial patient resources, core facilities, animal models, and educational/training programs.

Responsibilities will include clinical care, teaching, and research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead a clinical or translational research program investigating cellular therapies for hematological malignancies, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary collaborations, peer-reviewed funding, and high-impact publications. A particular focus in the area of the CAR engineered NK cells.

Qualifications:

Applicants should hold or be eligible for medical licensure in Texas and must possess a Medical Degree with board eligibility or board certification in the subspecialty of medical oncology. Successful candidates should have demonstrated expertise and leadership in Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy clinical research.

Salary range for Assistant Professor $240,000 - $323,000
