The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center / Department of Oncology is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor in Thoracic Oncology with a particular focus in  esophageal cancer, thymic malignancies and lung cancer. The successful candidate will require exceptional training and experience as the lead investigator in the conduct of phase I and phase II clinical trials investigating novel therapeutics in these diseases. An extensive publication record with several original first-author papers in leading peer reviewed journals is required. The successful applicant will be a physician-scientist who will be charged with developing a portfolio of innovative clinical trials in upper GI tumors and in lung cancer. Experience of dealing with large pharmaceutical companies is preferable. The candidate will have major opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and scholarship, working with faculty focused on upper aerodigestive cancer research.  This individual will participate in an active clinical and research program in upper

aerodigestive diseases and should be eligible for licensure in the State of Maryland. Responsibilities will include: attending on inpatient units, attending and supervising fellows in outpatient clinic, and developing and supervising research protocols. The academic appointment will be commensurate with the individual’s experience. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.

The ideal applicant to this position will be an individual with exceptional clinical trial experience in thoracic oncology who can lead an independent translational research program. The Upper Aerodigestive Cancer Program of the Department of Oncology currently includes 10 faculty members.
