Regional Medical Director, Medical Oncology – Nuvance Health, West Region, Hudson Valley, NY

Nuvance Health, located in both the Hudson Valley of New York, just 75 minutes north of New York City, and in Western Connecticut, is seeking a Medical Director to lead the growing Medical Oncology Program in the West Region.

Our model of care is multi-disciplinary, integrated and collaborative among all system hospitals.  The team includes Surgical and Radiation Oncologists, Pathologists, Radiologists and medical subspecialties. We have a cohesive team of employed physicians and allied health providers, including dieticians, genetic counselors, research coordinators and navigators, that function in a comprehensive and integrated model of care. Nuvance Health Cancer Institute is a member of NRG and has a robust clinical trials office including phase one trials.

We are looking for a leader to help guide the future development of our established cancer program and recruit outstanding medical oncologists to enhance a disease specific oncology model.  We are looking to add to our existing team and to continue the growth of the New York program as a lead component of our Nuvance Health 7 hospital system.  

Vassar Brothers Medical Center, the main site for cancer care in the West Region of Nuvance Health, provides our hospital system and multi-specialty practice with tertiary oncology services and is accredited by The American College of Surgeons as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Program.  Vassar has many of the key elements of a comprehensive oncology service line in place, including a state-of-the-art Radiation Oncology facility and team and Surgical Oncology Services in Breast, Brain and Spine, Thoracic, GI, Hepato-Biliary, Head and Neck, Gyn Onc, Hem/Onc and Urology. Cancer care currently takes place at three other hospitals and several care sites in the West Region, including radiation oncology, infusion and surgical oncology.

We are seeking a motivated physician leader who is looking to:

*Readily lead a medical oncology program alongside other Nationally recognized cancer physicians

*Build a team of medical oncologists in a specialized model

*Partner with 7 hospitals at Nuvance while coordinating medical oncology care, quality and teamwork in the New York region.

*Work in a respectful and caring work environment

Located on the banks of the scenic Hudson River, Vassar Brothers Medical Center is a 365-bed tertiary care hospital that provides the leading acute and critical emergency care in the region. Vassar will have completed a new a 696,000-square-foot, eight-level inpatient pavilion with 264 private medical/surgical patient rooms and 30 critical care rooms that should be occupied early 2021. Vassar focuses on providing the highest quality care and meeting the needs of the community of by consistently adding new services and state-of-the-art treatments with established centers of excellence in cardiac services, cancer care and womens’ health services. Vassar is consistently ranked as one of the strongest cardiac programs in the United States and one of the “Top 100 Heart Hospitals” by Modern HealthCare Magazine.

Putnam Hospital Center (PHC), in Carmel, New York, is a 165-bed community hospital. With a staff of more than 300 physicians, PHC offers the highest quality medical, surgical, psychiatric, oncology, pediatric, orthopedic, obstetrical/gynecological, and intensive care, as well as 24-hour emergency services and home health care. PHC has recently completed a $34 million addition with all single-patient rooms. PHC is in a beautiful suburban location, an hour north of New York City. The area enjoys a reputation for both excellent public and private schools and is an excellent place to raise a family. The region is a great choice for balancing work and quality of life. 

Northern Dutchess Hospital is a 68-bed acute care community hospital with excellent medical staff and 24/7 hospitalist coverage. The hospital has recently expanded their oncology services in medical oncology, surgical oncology and infusion center. In addition, there are recent renovated operating rooms, a brand new, top-rated emergency department, and fully modernized patient care areas. Northern Dutchess enjoys both the collegiality of a community hospital as well as the benefits of being part of a larger hospital system.

The Hudson Valley boasts a terrific quality of life. From hiking, biking, and boating, to cafes, art galleries, and local farmers markets, this beautiful suburban location offers endless ways to spend your leisure time. Excellent housing and outstanding schools can be found throughout the region. The Mid-Hudson Valley is also home to many fine colleges and universities, including Vassar College, Bard College, Marist College, SUNY New Paltz, and the Culinary Institute of America. Only 75 minutes north of New York City, the area offers easy commuter access to the city via Metro North and Amtrak rail lines.
