H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center is conducting an international search for an outstanding professional to provide exemplary leadership and assume full responsibility for all areas of management in the role of Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology. The expectation also includes an active leadership role within Moffitt Medical Group. 

The candidate should be an accomplished clinical leader, nationally recognized with a strong clinical and academic reputation, and who has the leadership competencies to further develop a nationally recognized department.  The Chair is responsible for the continued development of a diverse workforce where the Moffit value of Inclusion is paramount. Additional areas of responsibility include faculty development including mentoring, finance and budget, long range planning, resource allocations, and space administration.

The Chair actively engages in, encourages, and fosters development of clinical and translational research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the department, and practices radiation oncology in an exemplary manner. This position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the content of the didactic program and technical training for the department’s residents. Additional responsibilities include pursuit of appropriate funding mechanisms in support of research activities and representing the department at the local, state, national, and international levels. The Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology reports to the Physician in Chief.

The Department currently includes 25 physician Faculty members, 13 APPs, 17 physicists, 17 dosimetrists, and support staff dedicated to “state of the art” Radiation Oncology services with an annual patient volume of over 5500 visits per year. The Radiation Oncology group is dedicated to professional education and hosts 2 brachytherapy and research fellows and 10 radiation oncology residents.

Requirements:

Candidate must have a Florida Medical License or eligible for one, an M.D. degree or M.D./Ph.D. degree, and be board certified. Must have a minimum of 7 years experience as a medical practitioner with experience in clinical care, research and education in an Academic Medical Center setting.  Leadership qualities, including strategic vision, are essential.
