Position Summary: As a physician leader in a hematology/oncology practice, the Medical Director works with other leaders to ensure that Winchester Hospital’s Center for Cancer Care, part of the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) System, provides outstanding medical care to its patients while serving as a resource of healthcare excellence for the wider community. The Medical Director inspires trust, promotes collegial dialogue and collaborates in planning and problem solving in an environment that values diversity and enables all colleagues to develop their talents and do their best work. The Medical Director’s responsibilities and accountabilities include development of professional staff; achieving departmental quality, financial, and patient satisfaction goals; developing new initiatives; and overseeing department operations & resources. The Medical Director will also actively participate in the development and implementation of system-wide Cancer Services strategies. The Medical Director shall report to the Director of the Lahey Cancer Institute clinically and the Vice President of Winchester Physician Associates (WPA) administratively. Education: Doctor of Medicine Licensure, Certification, Registration: License to practice medicine as a physician in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Board Certified in Hematology and Oncology Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Demonstrated leadership experience coupled with exceptional clinical and communication skills are essential. Advanced analytical skills necessary to integrate and interpret data from diverse sources in order to determine optimal course of action and influence outcomes. Advanced knowledge of the hematology and oncology fields as well as general knowledge of a health care delivery system including regulations, trends, policies and procedures related to quality and safety. Ability to build consensus and lead toward common objectives. Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to: Experience: At minimum 10 years of medical practice, 3 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated evidence of leading initiatives with significant impact. Comfortable coaching and mentoring other providers and staff to excellent performance and engagement. Advanced skill using EMR systems, EPIC preferred. Scope/Impact Statement: The Medical Director has direct and significant impact on patient outcomes as well as on the efficient and effective operations of the Cancer Center, and thus on the success and reputation of WPA and Beth Israel Lahey Health. Work Schedule: The Medical Director will devote sufficient time to meet the requirement of the medical practice as determined by the VP Winchester Physician Associates.
