Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s (D-H) Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC), in partnership with Korn Ferry, announces a national search for the Section Chief of Medical Oncology and Deputy Cancer Center Director.

NCCC is a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated comprehensive cancer center based in Lebanon, New Hampshire at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) and the Dartmouth College Geisel School of Medicine (Geisel) in nearby Hanover, New Hampshire. 

A national search is underway for a Deputy Director for NCCC. The successful candidate will also serve as the Section Chief of Medical Oncology for the Department of Medicine at Geisel. The Deputy Director/Section Chief will partner with Dr. Leach in strategic pursuit of ongoing excellence among elite cancer centers in the country. The Deputy Director will be responsible for the ongoing development of the cancer enterprise within the three major mission areas – clinical care, research/innovation, and education/career development.  The successful candidate will be an established leader in academic medical oncology with a track record of clinical, academic and teaching accomplishments.  For highly qualified candidates, an endowed professorship is available.

In this highly visible role, the Deputy Director/Section Chief will provide strategic vision and leadership for the growth and expansion of the clinical service line in the region, clinical trials, and cancer research, within NCCC and the Section of Medical Oncology. The successful candidate will further enrich an environment that has a strong sense of community and collaboration – with over 250 active and ongoing research projects, led by 134 Cancer Center Members, and supported by more than $68 million in annual grants funding from federal and other sources. 

The Deputy Director will work closely with the Director and the senior leadership team to execute the Cancer Center's strategic goals. Recruitment of a diverse workforce is a priority and the Deputy Director will lead the recruitment of world-class translational clinician scientists. Importantly, the Cancer Center is a leader in the regional Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health System and the Deputy Director will represent the Cancer Center in local, statewide, and regional collaborations and negotiations.

As the Section Chief, the successful candidate will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer for Medical Oncology. The Section Chief will ensure that research, education, clinical operations, and community outreach are aligned to support a demanding and high-quality academic practice. This includes ongoing commitment lead growth of programs in a complex academic environment, ensuring that the academic and clinical activities of NCCC bring increasing value to its many stakeholders and national distinction to both D-H and Dartmouth.
