Associate Director of Clinical Research for the Cancer Center

The Stony Brook University Cancer Center, Stony Brook, NY, is seeking an experienced research scientist in GI, GU or other solid tumor expertise, to lead the development of a robust clinical and translational research program in therapeutic clinical trials. As Associate Director for Clinical Research in the Cancer Center, candidates should have extensive experience in the conduct of clinical trials, including the initiation of investigator initiated trials. Experience with IND submissions, pharmaceutic collaborations, and supervision of clinical trial operations is expected.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent leadership and organizational abilities. Participation in the mission of the Stony Brook Cancer Center including leading the expansion of its clinical trial portfolio and investigator initiated trials; and collaboration with the existing strong programs in cancer biology, metabolomics, lipidomics, cancer imaging, bioinformatics, quantitative biology, and an Institute of Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery is anticipated. Contributions to the teaching and educational mission of the Stony Brook School of Medicine is expected.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: MD or MD/PhD or equivalent degree with a national recognition in clinical and/or translational research. Candidates should have demonstrated leadership abilities and a strong background in mentorship across the cancer research training continuum with a focus on therapeutic clinical trials.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in GI or GU malignancies is preferred; however, strong candidates with expertise in other solid tumors will be considered. Candidates with externally funded grant awards or a strong background in investigator initiated trials are encouraged to apply.

Tenure/Non-Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for tenure and/or a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
