Director of Phase 1/Investigational Therapeutics Program
New Brunswick, New Jersey – Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) seeks a dynamic, distinguished research leader to serve as its next Director of Phase 1/Investigational Therapeutics Program. This is a unique opportunity to advance clinical and translational research at one of the most respected comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States.
CINJ is a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated comprehensive cancer center. In partnership with RWJBarnabas Health, the state's most extensive healthcare delivery system, the organizations partner to deliver high-quality and sophisticated oncology care to patients close to home. The CINJ serves a catchment area that spans the entire state of New Jersey with a population from varied socio-economic backgrounds in one of the most ethnically and racially diverse states. Delivering care to more than 3 million patients annually at sites throughout New Jersey, the CINJ's integrated cancer care model combines both entities' strengths, offering access to the most advanced diagnostic and treatment options for adult and pediatric cancer patients, including clinical trials, immunotherapy, proton therapy, precision medicine, CAR T-cell therapy, and cardio-oncology.
The incoming Director of Phase 1/Investigational Therapeutics will have unique opportunities for collaborations between clinical and research programs, including clinical trials research, cancer chemoprevention, and clinical and basic pharmacology. The incoming Director is expected to support the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School's educational goals and activities; the Director will be involved in teaching activities for medical students and residents and targeted lectures in their area of expertise.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative and academically-oriented oncologist with an interest in developing and growing programs in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Compelling candidates for the position will have an M.D. (or equivalent) and fellowship training with at least five years of oncology clinical trial development and design experience, leadership experience preferred. The incumbent will have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; and the ability to develop and lead successful interdisciplinary collaborations.
