Job Details

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Section of Benign Hematology, is recruiting a mid-career faculty member with clinical and research experience in cancer-associated thrombosis.

Physicians with at least five years of experience in cancer associated thrombosis are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have been actively engaged in clinical research in cancer-associated thrombosis and have a demonstrable record of scholarly activity focused on the prediction, prevention and treatment of cancer associated thrombosis, including medication adherence and quality-of-life elements affecting anticoagulation adherence. The successful candidate will seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support clinical research and assist with mentoring young faculty, fellows, and other trainees, as well as contribute to the overall mission of the institution. The candidate will have protected time to lead and develop programs, clinical research projects and scholarly activities in keeping within the goals of the section.

There are multiple opportunities for collaboration with other clinicians, scientists and physician-scientists within the institution and collaborative groups to which our section belongs and participates actively. The successful candidate will have an M.D., or M.D. and Ph.D. degrees, with those holding an M.D. having demonstrated the ability to practice internal medicine, hematology and, in particular, benign hematology. Candidates with an M.D. must be American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) certified clinicians in their primary specialty and board-certified in Hematology. Dual board certification in both Hematology and Oncology is encouraged. Candidates must show evidence of commitment to scholarly activity and proof of scientific accomplishments. Candidates should possess excellent writing and communication skills as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, presentations at professional meetings, peer-review activities and the ability to obtain extramural funding for clinical research. MD Anderson Cancer Center offers many opportunities in a growing and a vibrant research, clinical, and training environment.

The salary range is $268,000 - $324,000 and will be based on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

Please send a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, names and addresses of three to five references, and a brief summary of past research accomplishments and future research plans to: Denise Holcomb, Department Administrator, at DRHolcomb@mdanderson.org. or Michael H.
