Director of Thoracic Malignancies, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology

Knight Cancer Institute

Oregon Health & Science University

Portland, Oregon

The Oregon Health & Science University Knight Cancer Institute (the Knight) welcomes applications and nominations for the Director of Thoracic Malignancies within the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology (Hem/Onc). OHSU is invested in creating a new frontier in lung cancer discovery, research, and treatment, and the Director of Thoracic Malignancies will be the vanguard in achieving this mission.

For nearly 25 years, the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute has been Oregon’s only NCI-designated cancer center, and today it stands as an international leader in research and cancer treatment. The Knight is marked by unrelenting innovation in emergent areas such as personalized medicine and precision oncology – attributable to a world-class research infrastructure, the steady recruitment of eminent investigators and clinicians, and large-scale and record-setting philanthropic support.

The Director of Thoracic Malignancies will join the Division of Hem/Onc during a time of remarkable growth in both clinical expansion and investment in research. The Director position is the opportunity to build the dominant provider of lung cancer care in the Portland area. The creation of the service line will build out world-class lung cancer research at the Knight – coupling investigation and discovery to clinical care – and amplifying the Knight’s ability to deliver high-quality, complex care in lung cancer medicine.

Reporting to the Division Head of Hematology and Medical Oncology, the Director of Thoracic Malignancies will be given access to uncommon institutional resources, including a $2.5 million endowed chair. The successful candidate will be a physician investigator with the intellectual vision to direct and lead the establishment of a differentiated lung cancer program in an innovative and collaborative Cancer Institute. The successful candidate will have a distinguished publication and funding record in clinical/translational lung cancer research and will spearhead the development and expansion of a clinical and translational lung research portfolio. They must qualify for the rank of associate or full professor at OHSU and must hold a MD or MD/PhD.

Inquiries, nominations, referrals, and resumes with cover letters should be submitted to Philip Jaeger and Nicholas Strand on the Isaacson, Miller website: www.imsearch.com/7876
