Job Details

The Department of the Thoracic Head and Neck Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center invites applicants for a full-time academic appointment at the level of Assistant Professor to develop a clinical and translational research program investigating novel approaches of targeted therapies and immunotherapies in MAPK-driven lung cancer, with a particular emphasis in the BRAF gene. This position offers the candidate the opportunity for professional growth and development by joining an exciting and active group of clinicians, physician scientists, and clinical, basic science and translational investigators. The successful candidate will closely interact with the many ongoing research programs of the department focusing on carcinogenesis, treatment, biomarker development and other projects in support of targeted and immune therapies in lung cancer. The faculty member will have access to THNMO substantial patient resources, core facilities, animal models and educational/training programs. THNMO is currently funded by an NIH Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE), The Lung Cancer Moonshot and numerous other programmatic and peer-reviewed grants that facilitate the department’s translational research initiatives.

Responsibilities will include clinical care, teaching, research and administrative roles. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead a clinical or translational research program investigating novel targeted and immune therapies in lung cancer, with emphasis on multidisciplinary collaborations, peer-reviewed funding and high-impact publications. The candidate must have a track record for publication and research in lung cancer (both clinical and translational) specifically for BRAF-mutant NSCLC.

Salary Benchmark: $230K.

The Assistant Professor must have completed the M.D. degree in an accredited medical school or equivalent, must have completed residency training in an approved American Residency Program or equivalent and be eligible for licensure as a physician in the state of Texas.
