Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Opportunity at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital

Prisma Health Medical Group-Midlands and the University of South Carolina Department of Pediatrics are seeking a faculty member at the Assistant or Associate level for our Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division in Columbia, SC. The position is non-tenure track for a candidate board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and academic rank.

The candidate will join a highly respected team of five physicians and one advanced practice provider who lead programs in sickle cell disease, oncology, and direct the only federally funded comprehensive hemophilia treatment center in the state.  In addition to teaching and clinical responsibilities especially including sickle cell and hematology, duties will include roles in the division’s clinical trials program. The Division is a member in good standing of the Children’s Oncology Group with approximately 40 new oncology patients per year. 

The Department of Pediatrics has a record of academic achievement and provides education to medical students, physician assistant students, and pediatric residents via electives, lectures, and other clinical experience.  The Department along with our freestanding Children’s Hospital presently provides 151,000 patient encounters annually with 7,500 admissions and over 32,000 pediatric emergency room visits. Our Children`s Hospital has been recognized as National Children`s Hospital of the Month twice in three years by SPS from among over 140 children`s hospitals. The Department has 18 divisions and has been recognized as the best teaching department for 27out of the last 30 years by the School of Medicine. While primarily teaching clinicians, some faculty are engaged in research with infrastructure support.
