The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member in the UW Division of Medical Oncology, specializing in research and clinical care of patients with sarcoma. This position would be at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank (without tenure due to funding), commensurate with experience and qualifications, and include an equivalent appointment at Fred Hutch. This position would have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30]. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing funded clinical and laboratory research programs related to the biology and treatment of cancer. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity and resources to develop his/her own clinical research program. Teaching responsibilities would involve oversight of housestaff and fellows during ambulatory and inpatient activities and delivery of lectures to housestaff, fellows, and the general medical community. This position will be expected to fulfill our commitment to institutional service and diversity, equity and inclusion.

The Sarcoma program at UW and Fred Hutch is a rapidly growing, regional referral center attracting patients from throughout the Washington-Wyoming-Alaska-Montana-Idaho (WWAMI) region and Hawaii. Qualifications
Successful applicants will have demonstrated excellence in teaching, clinical oversight of learners, and research mentorship. The candidate should have a demonstrated record in clinical, translational, or laboratory-based research, with a primary focus on sarcomas and closely related conditions. Early career, laboratory-based applicants with less than five years of laboratory experience must show a demonstrated record of progressively independent research.

Requirements include MD (or foreign equivalent), completion (at the time of appointment) of a fellowship in Medical Oncology, and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) eligible or certified in Medical Oncology (or foreign equivalent). To be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must demonstrate successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent, as determined by the Secretary of
Health and Human Services, with the ability to receive licensure in the State of Washington.
