We are recruiting the following medical oncologists for growing academic program at CAMC a 958 bed academic medical center in West Virginia`s capital city of Charleston.

Chief of Hematology-Oncology   We are seeking an experienced clinical and academic leader for the position of Chief of Hematology-Oncology of the CAMC Cancer Center. The position will provide leadership and administrative oversight to strategic advancement of clinical services and developing academic department of Hematology/oncology. The Chief will be responsible for patient care, quality improvement and academic functions and lead an aggressive department level recruitment and growth initiatives, including plans for the development of a new ACGME accredited Hematology-Oncology Fellowship program.

Ideal applicants will have demonstrated progressive clinical/academic leadership and administrative experience preferably in a teaching hospital/health system, academic medical center or medical school.

Program Director   We are seeking applicants for a Program Director to develop and lead an ACGME fellowship program in Hematology and Medical Oncology. The position will be housed in a growing academic department within the CAMC Institute of Academic Medicine and the CAMC Cancer Center. The program Director will be responsible for providing administrative, clinical, and academic leadership to a faculty and trainees and maintain accreditation requirements. The position will assume clinical and academic duties with a specified level of academic protected time and effort as prescribed by the ACGME and/or as may be defined specifically to candidate’s experience and contribution to the academic mission.

Faculty Oncologists: We are seeking applicants for full-time clinical and academic faculty positions to join an expanding multi-disciplinary team within the CAMC Institute of Academic Medicine and Department of Medicine. As part of a planned growth initiative, CAMC desires to advance access and services to the region and to establish a focus on academic medicine within the Division of Hematology Oncology, including the development of an ACGME approved fellowship program. We are strategically positioned to seek multiple positions with flexibility for allocations of clinical care, education/teaching, and academic functions. Faculty/Clinical faculty at all academic rank and experience levels are encouraged to apply.

As a winner of the National Baldrige Quality Award, CAMC is nationally recognized for its progressive and innovative practices and quality care.   CAMC is a 958 bed academic medical center and is southern West Virginia’s top health care provider with four hospitals and over 700 physicians on staff as well as a workforce of over 7,000 employees.  Serving a primary and secondary service area of 12 counties with a population of over 560,000, CAMC serves approximately 31% of the total population of West Virginia.   CAMC is home to one of the highest volume heart programs in the nation, the state’s only kidney transplant center, a Level I trauma center, the region’s largest Level III neonatal intensive care unit, a Level I pediatric intensive care unit, and the only freestanding children’s hospital in West Virginia.  CAMC is the founding member of the West Virginia Health Network (WVHN), a clinical integrated network formed in 2019 with a focus on building partnerships with area/state-wide hospitals, physician groups and federally qualified health centers to improve the overall health of local communities and quality of health care.   Currently, over 1400 providers and 91,000 members are participating in various programs sponsored by the WVHN.

Under the auspices of the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine, CAMC is a growing academic medical center sponsoring 14 accredited medical residencies and fellowship programs; 3 pharmacy residency programs; a doctoral clinical psychology internship and a doctoral level School of Nurse Anesthesia.  Our strategic plan includes expansion of GME programs in a number of disciplines over the next five years as well as a growing portfolio of research programs and initiatives.   CAMC is home to two regional medical school campuses hosting 160 full-time 3rd and 4th year medical students on site and serves as clinical training site for over 1500 health sciences students.   A new Center for Learning and Research is under construction that will house a 14,000 square foot simulation center and other facilities dedicated to our education and research programs.  With over 350 active research protocols and clinical trials, the CAMC research program is accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRP), which recognizes institutional “commitment and scientifically and ethically sound research and to continuous improvement.”

CAMC has major affiliations with West Virginia University and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and our strong academic programs offer a balanced experience in both private practice and academia.  

Their research departments conduct, sponsor and support hundreds of clinical trials, multi-center trials and clinical and effectiveness research initiatives annually in a variety of specialty areas.
