Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Medical Oncologist for its Cutaneous Oncology Program. Our Cutaneous Oncology Program is widely regarded as one of the top advanced skin cancer programs in the country, providing a wide-ranging scope of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services in a single location, including but not limited to diagnostic imaging services, biopsies and expedited on-site results, surgical excision of tumors, reconstructive plastic surgery, & systematic therapies. Moffitt’s Cutaneous Oncology Program has helped pioneer a number of notable advancements, including adjuvant therapy for node-negative and node-positive patients and sentinel node biopsies for staging of patients with clinically negative nodes. Additionally, the National Cancer Institute has awarded our team a Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) grant for melanoma research The prospective candidate will be appointed at the Assistant Member level, or higher if warranted. The position involves all aspects of patient care, including the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients. The position works with several specialists in a multi-disciplinary approach to optimize patient care delivery.

This role also engages in clinical or translational research in conjunction with delivery of clinical services. This position will demonstrate creative activity, including discovery of new knowledge and development of new educational techniques. Protected time available for those that demonstrate capacity to perform clinical or translational research. This position will report to the Department Chair.  Collaborative research between clinicians as well as basic and population scientists is part of the culture.

Applicants must have a Florida medical license or be eligible for one, an M.D. degree, and be board certified or eligible. The applicant should be familiar with a multidisciplinary academic clinical practice setting. The successful candidate must have clinical expertise in melanoma and a desire to participate in and design clinical trials. Familiarity with other cutaneous malignancies besides melanoma is a plus. Background in clinical and/or translational research is essential, as is an interest in education and teaching. Knowledge of scientific research methods, federal guidelines related to conducting clinical trials, and excellent spoken & written communication skills are required.

Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute is Florida’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and is a rapidly growing center affiliated with the University of South Florida. The Cancer Center is comprised of a large ambulatory care facility, a 206-bed hospital, with a 36-bed blood and marrow transplant program, 20 state of the art operating suites, a 30-bed intensive care unit, a high-volume screening program, and a basic science research facility. The Moffitt Research Institute (MRI) is comprised of approximately 160 Principal Investigators, 58 laboratories, and 306,000 square feet of research space.
