ZRG Partners has been engaged by the Hollings Cancer Center (HCC), a NCI-designated Cancer Center, at the Medical University of South Carolina to assist in recruiting an established investigator in cancer health disparities research with a passion for community outreach and engagement to serve as co-leader of the Cancer Control Program. This position is at the rank of Associate of Full Professor.  The HCC Cancer Control co-leader will help to direct the research program, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary group to identify opportunities for strategic growth and development, facilitating interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary cancer research.  Continued extension of the program across the statewide catchment area is vital to the program’s success, leveraging the opportunities through MUSC’s affiliate hospitals and its partnerships, expanding the capacity of the program to address cancer care needs in rural areas of the state.  The Cancer Control Program includes 25 research members across 9 departments, with a federal grant portfolio of $3.4 million, and a rating of “outstanding to excellent” during their most recent National Cancer Institute grant renewal.  The program has three specific aims: (1) identify risk factors predisposing to cancer development; (2) translate discoveries into evidence-based interventions; and (3) disseminate and implement evidence-based interventions.  Cross-cutting themes include cancer health disparities and tobacco control.

Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree, PhD, MD or MD/PhD in behavioral or populations sciences with a primary focus on cancer health disparities research;
• Sustained track record of peer-reviewed funding and publications relevant to cancer;
• Hold substantial cancer-focused funding;
• Evidence of leadership potential; and,
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching, and/or service is especially desired.
