Assistant Professor, Term Tenure Track
The Department of Thoracic/Head & Neck Medical Oncology (THNMO) at MD Anderson Cancer Center invites applicants for a term tenure track, full-time academic appointment at the level of Assistant Professor. We offer the opportunity for professional growth and development by joining an exciting and active group of clinicians, physician-scientists, as well as clinical/basic science, and translational investigators. The successful candidate will closely interact with the many ongoing research programs of the department focusing on carcinogenesis and prevention, treatment, biomarker development, and other projects in support of personalized medicine. Specific emphasis in immunology, genomics and biomarker development across the landscape of lung cancer is required. The faculty member will have access to THNMO’s substantial patient resources, core facilities, animal models, thoracic molecular pathology laboratories, and educational/training programs. THNMO is currently funded by a NIH Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs), the MD Anderson Lung Cancer Moon Shot, and other programmatic and peer-reviewed grants that facilitate the department’s translational research initiatives.
Responsibilities will include laboratory and clinical research programs, clinical care, and teaching in the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead an independently-funded translational laboratory research program, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary collaborations, peer-reviewed funding, and high-impact publications.
Applicants should hold or be eligible for medical licensure in Texas and must possess an MD with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in the subspecialty of medical oncology. Successful candidates should have demonstrated expertise in thoracic medical oncology clinical research.
