The Emory University School of Medicine and the Emory Winship Cancer Institute in Atlanta, Georgia are recruiting an oncologist with experience in academic medical leadership to join the faculty as Director for the Division of Medical Oncology.  The Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology has a growing faculty, with sub-specialty practices at multiple locations in metro Atlanta.  Emory seeks candidates holding a M.D. or equivalent degree who will lead the continuing development of clinical service, basic and clinical research, and education.

Applicants for this position must be Board Certified and eligible for licensure in Georgia. The Division is comprised of sections that include brain, breast, GI, GU, head and neck, lung, melanoma, and sarcoma. Competitive candidates will show evidence of leadership experience, a significant history of academic scholarship, experience in clinical research and education, and a strong clinical background.

The Director will support strong clinical research, strengthen Emory’s expertise in basic and translational research, and expand clinical care delivery across all facets of Medical Oncology. The Director will oversee all aspects of research at Emory including related work in cancer immunology, drug development, pathway creation, clinical practice, and quality across the Division. Working with other dedicated leaders, the Director will support robust educational activities and facilitate mentorship and faculty career development in a Division that joins the Department and the School of Medicine in continuing to pursue diversity, equity, and inclusion in each of its missions.

The Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is a National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.  Hematology and Medical Oncology is an autonomous academic department in the Emory School of Medicine, and its physicians are members of The Emory Clinic, Inc.  In addition to Emory University Hospital, programs and services are also located at Emory University Hospital Midtown, Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Emory Decatur Hospital, and the Atlanta Veterans’ Administration Medical Center. The Director will work with leaders in the Department and the Winship Cancer Institute to develop appropriate programs and services at additional locations, including chiefly Winship at Midtown, a groundbreaking new facility expected to open in 2023.
