The Department of Breast Medical Oncology invites applicants for a full-time open rank, term tenure or open rank, term tenure track position with experience in breast cancer clinical care and research.  The final rank of this appointment will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications.  This faculty position reports to the chair of the Department of Breast Medical Oncology.  The responsibilities will include clinical expertise in patient care management, development of a focused clinical and translational research program, mentorship and training of junior faculty, fellows, staff, and other trainees, and contributions to the overall mission of the department. The program is comprised of dynamic interdisciplinary clinicians and researchers dedicated to improving prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

Candidates should demonstrate a record and/or potential for innovative research that is competitive for peer-reviewed funding, publication of high-impact original findings and a collaborative mindset. It is anticipated that candidates will actively engage in clinical, translational or laboratory research and scholarly activities, as well as develop interdisciplinary programs to enhance the academic environment of the department. This position requires the ability to synthesize information, formulate creative approaches for investigative inquiry pertaining to breast cancer, demonstrate leadership skills and function in a team environment. The successful candidate will be to relate their research to the betterment of patients with breast cancer, provide specialized breast cancer care, engage and inspire student and to provide administrative support and leadership. Required Qualifications:

  • M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree
  • Board eligible or board certified in Medical Oncology or related field
  • Board eligible or Licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Certification in Basic Life Support or Advanced Cardiac Life Support
